But if you crossed this Maccies diner in the street, you’d probably walk straight past it without a second glance.
The US branch, which is located in Maine, looks nothing like the other restaurants in the chain.
In fact, the only distinguishing characteristic is the McDonald’s sign on the front door.
The unassuming building looks more like a fancy house than a fast food outlet.
This is because it used to be a mansion owned by William Gore, a former business-owner of Freeport.
When the property was sold, locals weren’t keen on the idea of a fast food outlet taking its place.
For this reason, bosses decided to keep the quirky characteristics of the Gore House in tact
In 1984, McDonald’s media manager Stephen Leroy explained: "What we are doing there is something we probably have never done before in terms of design and the amount of time and effort involved.
"We are willing to spend the money to make it compatible with the area, the history, the community and the people who live there."
If the restaurant’s pleasant decor and plush furniture wasn’t quirky enough, a fancy menu item adds another level of uniqueness.
Those looking for something more up-market can order a lobster roll.
This seafood treat is widely available at the Freeport location, while it’s only limited edition across the rest of America.
If this fancy dish isn’t to diners’ tastes, they can tuck into traditional McDonald’s favourites including nuggets and burgers.
