Air Canada plane comes within FIVE FEET of landing on passenger jets..

 

 

The video shows Air Canada flight 759 preparing to land at San Francisco International Airport.
But on the runway, a Philippine Air jet appears directly in its path.
At the very last minute, the pilot violently rears up to avoid landing on top of it.
Experts say the terrifying near-miss on July 7, 2017, could have led to one of the “greatest aviation disasters” in history.
A total of four passenger jets had lined up on the runway, with 1,000 passengers on board.
US Federal aviation investigators launched a probe after the incident, which found there was a mix-up in communication between flight crew and air traffic controllers after the Air Canada flight was lined up to land on the wrong runway.

The Mercury News report that the first officer onboard the flight asked air traffic controllers: “Just want to confirm this is Air Canada 759 we see some lights on the runway there across the runway.
“Can you confirm we’re cleared to land?”
Officials assured the officer it was clear, not realising it was lined up to land on the crowded parallel taxiway instead.
