Donald Trump watches up to 8 hours of cable TV news a day, according to shocking new reports of how the President spends his days.
The President flips on the TV when he wakes up at 5.30am each morning, and sometimes fires off his first tweets of the day from his iPhone while propped up on pillows in his bed.

According to the New York Times , he also consumes a dozen Diet Cokes a day, delivered to the President wherever he is in the White House by household staff summoned at the press of a button.
He often sleeps for just five hours a night - and nobody touches the remote except him and his tech support staff.

Once he emerges from his bedroom or nearby den after a morning in front of the TV, he sometimes makes his first calls of the day still in his nightclothes from the Treaty Room in the President’s residence, on the top floor of the Executive Mansion.
He even has a 60-inch TV constantly showing news headlines in his dining room, which he can watch on mute during meetings.
According to the Times, Trump watches CNN - who he frequently brands ‘fake news’ - first thing in the morning to get the headlines, followed by Fox and Friends for “comfort” and sometimes MSNBC’s Morning Joe, because it “fires him up for the day”.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told the Times: “He believes passionately that the liberal left and the media are out to destroy him. The way he got here is fighting back and counterpunching.
“The problem he’s going to face,” Graham added, “is there’s a difference between running for the office and being president.”

Graham said Trump is gradually learning the “rhythm” of working in Washington - but said his presidency is still a work in progress. He added: “Everything’s possible, from a complete disaster to a home run.”
General John Kelly, the President’s chief of staff, has had some success in bringing some order to the chaos of the Trump administration - restricting access to the Oval Office to only those who need to be there and being a gatekeeper for much of the information given to him.

But where he can’t control who Trump talks to, he reportedly either listens in on the President’s phone calls through the White House switchboard or calls people back to “debrief” them on any promises Trump may have made in “unguarded moments”.

Since starting the job in the Summer, Kelly has also tried to cut down the amount of free time Trump has for rage tweeting by "slowly and respectfully" trying to get him to come to work earlier.

When he can’t blow off steam at the golf course, the Times reports Trump hosts nightly dinners, where he and various Washington luminaries gossip over “plates of well-done steak, salad slathered with Roquefort dressing and bacon crumbles, tureens of gravy and massive slices of dessert with extra ice cream.”
Once guests leave, he reportedly "hate watches" CNN to get worked up, before heading to bed.
