Donald Trump has raised the level of diplomatic discussion yet again, referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un as ‘short and fat’. In a tweet that must be seen to be believed, he wrote: ‘Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me “old,” when I would NEVER call him “short and fat?” ‘Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!’ If you got confused and thought you were back in primary school for a moment, sorry, no, this is actually happening. He said it after North Korea called Trump’s speech in South Korea ‘reckless remarks by an old lunatic.’

              Trump had earlier warned North Korea: ‘Do not underestimate us. And do not try us. … The weapons you’re acquiring are not making you safer, they are putting your regime in grave danger. ‘Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face.’

But asked in Vietnam if it was true that the two countries could ever be friends, he said: ‘Certainly, it is something that could happen. ‘I don’t know that it will, but it would be very, very nice if it did.’


In the same Twitter session, taking advantage of the new 280 character limit, Trump hit out at the ‘haters and fools’ who criticise his policies. ‘When will all the haters and fools out there realise that having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing,’ he said. ‘There (sic) always playing politics – bad for our country. I want to solve North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, terrorism, and Russia can greatly help!’
