According to El Pais newspaper, about 2,500 people gathered near Las Ramblas street and chanted slogans like "we say no to terrorism, we say no to violence and we say yes to peace."

Representatives of three local Muslim communities also presented a manifesto, in which they expressed concern about the position of migrants' children born in Spain.

"The fact that a young man born in Catalonia states against his country or his city means that we have a problem that we must solve and not hide," the manifesto said as quoted by the media outlet.

On August 17 and early next day, Spain's Barcelona and Cambrils faced two van ramming attacks, which have killed 15 people and left more than 130 injured. The Islamic State (IS, terrorist group outlawed in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attacks. The Catalan police force confirmed on Monday it had killed Younes Abouyaaquob, the suspected perpetrator of the terrorist attack in Barcelona, in a shooting in the Spanish town of Subirats.

The terrorist cell, which included 12 people, is considered to be behind the attacks. The group prepared explosives in a house in Alcanar town, which is 120 miles south of Barcelona, using gas canisters and explosive material known as the "mother of Satan." A night before the attacks took place, the gas cylinders accidentally detonated, destroying the house and killing two people, which made the perpetrators change their plan for the attack.
