5 Tips to Recover from Searing Disappointment
Disappointment is a fact of life, and unavoidable. It is when we don’t deal with it properly it can devastate us, and leave us in a pit for years to come. We need to not only work on daily disappointments, but the disappointments that knock the wind from us.

Change Focus
Don’t focus on the negative. Flip the story around and make your success story. Write your feelings down and be honest. Use this time to focus on the positives, and jot these down. It’s important to work through the emotions you’re feeling. If you need to rant, go for it. Don't hold back.
Not Alone
Know that you’re not alone in this. Many people have had losses and setbacks. Allow time to grieve over the disappointment, and forgive yourself.

Dream Again
Please dream again. Don’t allow this to stop you from having a good life. Maybe there needs to be another angle to approach a goal. Try different ways to approach the problem or loss. If disappointment turned into depression, seek help, and talk to someone.

Plow Ahead
Author Les Brown wrote you need to fight and move forward. “Anytime you suffer a setback or disappointment, put your head down and plow ahead.”




Adjust Expectations
Adjust your expectations and celebrate your small wins. Even if you didn’t get that coveted or promotion, count what you have achieved. Cheer yourself on during this time, and use gratitude as a tool.
