Donald Trump has refused to deny recording his meetings with former FBI Director James Comey.
The US president lashed out at Comey on Friday, tweeting that he ‘better hope that there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!’
He had earlier called Comey a ‘showboat’ and ‘grandstander’.
Sean Spicer, Trump’s chief spokesman, refused to comment on Friday when asked if active listening devices are installed in the Oval Office, or elsewhere in the building.

Spicer’s conspicuous non-denial drew comparisons to the secretly-taped conversations and telephone calls that led to President Richard Nixon’s downfall in the Watergate scandal in 1972.
Trump’s recent comments have also prompted fresh accusations of interference with the FBI’s Russia investigation.
The president has otherwise stayed out of the public eye since Tuesday, when he sent shockwaves around the world by removing the head of the agency that is investigating Trump’s links to the Kremlin.
Under Comey, the FBI was in the middle of looking into Trump’s connections to Russia, both during the election campaign and at present.
A recent survey by the Pew Research Centre marking Trump’s first 100 days in office, which was marked on April 29, found that just 39% of the general public approve of the new president
