Hatty the Labrador sworn in!

Image result for Hatty the Labrador sworn in.

A gorgeous black Labrador looked so proud as she was sworn in as a courthouse emotional support dog. The two year-old dog, called Hatty, stood on her hind legs and solemnly placed her right paw on a law book as Cook County State Attorney Kimberly Foxx conducted the ceremony on Tuesday. Hatty will work a nine to five schedule alongside prosecutors at the state attorney’s office in Chicago, Illinois. Based out of the city’s George N Leighton Criminal Courthouse, Hatty’s job is to help ease the strain of criminal proceedings on young people involved in court cases. She will also work to soothe those suffering from mental health issues, as well as assault victims.

Hatty’s case load will be heavy, with the good-natured Lab set to handle up to 200 cases a year. She is the first emotional support dog to be sworn in to her office, and was trained by prison inmates as part of a rehabilitation program.
