Fire outbreak in Indian hotel leaves 17 dead.

 

17 people have reportedly lost their lives following a fire outbreak at a New Delhi hotel.

A senior police officer has confirmed that a child and 16 others, including a woman, died in the fire. Fire Chief Officer G.C. Mishra said many died from suffocation adding that the death toll could rise.

Members of a family reportedly booked about 35 rooms in the hotel. They are said to have come into town for an event.

The fire service has since brought the fire under control and are still working on the scene.,
