6 Soul Benefits of Silence and Solitude.

silence, solitude, Christian disciplines, hearing God

Soul Time-Out
Silence and solitude allow the soul to hear from God through the spiritual ear. The “still small voice” of the Most High can only be heard in those moments of holy alone time. Here are six soul benefits of practicing this discipline.

Soul Refreshing
Daily life routines are a constant expending of energy that wears down our spiritual defenses. Consistent moments of silence and solitude allow the soul to regain balance by allowing the Spirit of God to flood in, refilling it with new energy and vitality

Soul Restoration
Poor habits and destructive behavioral patterns indicate an out of balance inner life. Taking a time-out gives God the opportunity to recalibrate the soul and reestablish balance and inner order.  You’ll be surprised how a balanced internal perspective will change your outward circumstances.

Soul Healing
No one can go through life without incurring a few wounds. The worst hurts are the ones that we never allow God to heal. Burdensome weights we carry around for decades wreak havoc on inner peace. Getting quiet before The Lord will cause Him to bring deep hurts to the surface in order to bring permanent healing and resolution. He can fix it.
Soul Listening
The noisy life is often the distracted life and deafens the voice of God. When life is jam packed with activity, the soul is left to be influenced by whatever and whoever. What dominates our time, directs our lives. Maintaining a constant internal dialogue with the Father is vital to understanding His plan and purpose for our life. Turn your ear to The Lord.
Soul Quieting
Quieting the soul ushers in humility. A restful, quiet soul draws on the inner wisdom of the Holy Spirit instead of human wisdom. Getting the soul quiet before God during devotional solitude prepares it to receive gifts of mercy, peace, righteousness and joy.

Soul Ravishing
Practicing this discipline allows God to continually fill you with the unique love and joyful thoughts that He has toward you. In a way it’s like calling home and every time God picks up the phone and reminds you who you are, Who you belong to, where you come from and where you’re going.
